A heartwarming story of an orphaned baby monkey and his beloved stuffed toy companion has captured the hearts of animal lovers worldwide, spreading like wildfire across social media. Meet Punch, a six-month-old macaque monkey from Japan, who was abandoned by his mother at birth and left to find solace in a cuddly plush toy.
The touching bond between the tiny primate and his soft companion has made international headlines after zookeepers at Ichikawa City Zoo shone a spotlight on their inseparable connection.
Hand-raised by dedicated zookeepers since July 2025, Punch has been lovingly fed and cared for by staff, and is thriving despite the well-known fact that young macaques rely heavily on their mothers in their earliest days.

What Punch ultimately chose as his go-to source of comfort has melted hearts around the world — a scraggly stuffed orangutan that has become his unlikely best friend.
