A long pauseβ¦
Then Lily asked softly:
βWhy did you always tell me I was beautiful?β
Her mother smiled through tears.
βBecause I needed you to believe itβ¦
before the world tried to take it away.β
That night, Lily couldnβt sleep.
She thought about everythingβ
the whispers,
the stares,
the doubtsβ¦
β¦and her motherβs words.
The next morning, she walked up to her⦠and smiled.
The same smile⦠but stronger now.
And she said:
βI choose you too.β
Years laterβ¦
Lily posted a picture of herself, smiling just like before.
And wrote:
βMy mom said that I am beautiful!βΒ
But this timeβ¦
it wasnβt just a caption.
It was truth.
It was strength.
It was her story.
