The psychology of puzzles
This particular puzzle plays on our brain’s tendency to recognize patterns. When we see a grid full of the letters “n,” our brain quickly forms a pattern and expects it to continue. This makes it difficult to spot the subtle differences that indicate an “m.” The challenge is to slow down and carefully examine each character, forcing the brain to shift from automatic pattern recognition to conscious observation.
