Ricky Jackson was born in the United States and grew up in a poor neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1975, when he was only 18 years old, his life changed forever.
One day, a man was killed during a robbery. Police arrested Ricky Jackson and his two friends. The only evidence against them was the testimony of a 12-year-old boy who said he saw them commit the crime. There was no physical evidence linking Ricky to the murder. No fingerprints. No DNA. Nothing.
Even so, the court believed the child’s testimony. Ricky Jackson was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was sent to death row. He lived every day knowing he could be executed. Later, his sentence was changed to life in prison, but he was still behind bars for a crime he did not commit.
