Tried the Pinterest homemade oven cleaner, and I’m sold on it. Will never buy another oven cleaner again. Worked amazing, sprayed it on and let it sit. Hardly any effort at all to wipe it out.

Before starting the cleaning process, prepare the following items:

  • Baking soda (about half a cup)

  • White vinegar (about half a cup)

  • Warm water

  • Microfiber cloth or soft sponge

  • Spray bottle

  • Small bowl

  • Rubber gloves

  • Old toothbrush or soft brush

Having all materials ready will make the cleaning process smoother and more efficient.

Step 1: Remove Oven Accessories

Start by turning off the oven and making sure it is completely cool.

Remove oven racks, trays, and other removable parts.

Soak these accessories in warm water mixed with a small amount of dish soap while you clean the oven interior.

Soaking helps loosen grease and makes scrubbing easier later.

If the racks are very dirty, you can sprinkle baking soda on them before soaking.

Step 2: Make the Homemade Cleaning Paste

Take half a cup of baking soda and mix it with a small amount of warm water inside a bowl.

Add water gradually until the mixture forms a thick paste.

The paste should be spreadable but not too runny.

This paste will serve as the main cleaning agent for stubborn stains inside the oven.

Step 3: Apply Baking Soda Paste Inside the Oven

Put on rubber gloves to protect your skin.

Using your fingers or a soft brush, spread the baking soda paste onto dirty oven surfaces.

Focus on areas with visible grease buildup or burned food residue.

Avoid applying paste to heating elements or electrical components.

Do not worry if the paste looks white and thick. That is normal.

Allow the paste to sit inside the oven for at least 12 hours or overnight.

This waiting period is important because it gives the baking soda time to break down grease particles.

Step 4: Clean Oven Racks

While waiting, clean the oven racks.

Scrub the racks gently using a sponge or brush.

If grease is difficult to remove, apply a little baking soda paste directly onto stubborn spots.

Rinse racks with clean water and dry them using a cloth.

Step 5: Remove Dried Baking Soda Paste

After the waiting period, take a damp microfiber cloth and wipe the dried baking soda paste from the oven interior.

You may need to rinse and wring the cloth several times during this process.

If some stains remain, do not worry because the vinegar spray will help remove them.
