I used to think I was a packing genius when I first got a dishwasher, and I subsequently learned that I was wrong. No more loads of dishes, would there? That is incorrect. Dishwashers aren’t effective cleaners and may damage motors if they’re overloaded. Having to hand-wash half of the load because it wasn’t clean was a lesson I had to learn the hard way.
I used to give the dishes a good rinsing until they were almost clean before putting them in the dishwasher. I should have known better. Detecting food particles and adjusting the cycle appropriately is a feature of modern dishwashers. The machine won’t function to its full potential if you rinse it first.
