Best Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup chopped onions

1 egg

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups beef broth

2 tablespoons flour

2 tablespoons butter

Optional: mushrooms, for garnish
Directions
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onions, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into oval-shaped patties and set aside.
In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to create a smooth gravy.
Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy until cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
Optional: Sautee mushrooms in butter and garlic, then garnish the Salisbury Steak with the mushrooms before serving.
Serve the Salisbury Steak hot, accompanied by your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
