Venus dimples: a simple anatomical feature.

From a medical standpoint, these small depressions have a more technical name: lumbar dimples. These areas correspond to zones where the skin is slightly attached to the pelvic bones, specifically at the posterior superior iliac spines. The result is a small, natural depression on the skin’s surface.

In other words, it’s neither a defect nor an “aesthetic bonus,” but simply a normal variation of the human body. It’s present in approximately 20 to 30% of the population and is primarily determined by genetics, just like eye color or face shape.
