In the middle of our divorce hearing, my husband stood proudly beside the woman he had cheated on me with and smiled as though he had already won.

Part 4

Julian’s attorney requested a recess.

The judge denied it.

“We’re continuing.”

Marcus approached the witness stand once more.

“Your Honor, Exhibit C.”

Boxes were wheeled into the courtroom.

Financial ledgers.

Internal emails.

Corporate records.

Forensic accounting reports.

The company’s chief financial officer entered under subpoena.

“I resigned three weeks ago.”

Marcus nodded.

“Why?”

“Because Mr. Vance instructed me to transfer corporate assets into shell companies before the divorce filing.”

Another screen illuminated.

Transfers totaling eighty-seven million dollars.

Foreign accounts.

Forged electronic signatures.

Backdated board resolutions.

The judge frowned.

“Were these authorized?”

“No.”

“Who ordered them?”

The witness looked directly at Julian.

“He did.”

Julian stood abruptly.

“You’re lying!”

Marcus wasn’t finished.

“The prosecution also requests permission to play security footage recovered from Vance Medical headquarters.”

The video appeared.

Julian inside the executive office after midnight.

Removing files.

Destroying hard drives.

Loading boxes into his vehicle.

Time stamps.

Biometric access logs.

Everything matched.

His attorney quietly lowered his head.

He knew the case had changed forever.

The divorce proceedings had become evidence in a criminal investigation.

Detectives waiting outside the courtroom received a message.

They entered moments later.
