How to thoroughly clean a mop and kill bacteria
The bucket should be disinfected after each use. Never leave dirty water in it, and of course, this water should never be reused. Rinse thoroughly with soap and water each time, then disinfect. Some people use large amounts of bleach, which undoubtedly has a bleaching effect and instantly kills bacteria and germs. Others use baking soda, which removes stains, makes leather shiny, and degreases. Especially when combined with vinegar, it produces amazing results.
But there’s another ingredient you should never miss in the kitchen, and it can be useful and have an amazing effect. Salt on a mop works wonders. Simply pour a tablespoon of salt on the mop, another on a cloth, add a liter of water, and you’re done. It should work for at least an hour. Of course, salt, whether coarse or fine, can be used to clean and disinfect everything in the house, such as a smelly trash can. Water and salt are the best home disinfectant. Its effectiveness stems from osmotic force, which kills bacteria within moments. When microorganisms come into contact with a concentrated solution of water and salt, they die due to dehydration.
Other effective ways to clean buckets and cloths:
Salt in a mop is just one of many effective methods. Another ingredient you can always find in the kitchen is lemon. Fill a bowl with hot water and add the juice of two lemons. Let the cloths and mop soak in the solution for at least a few hours. Then rinse them thoroughly. Lemon not only disinfects but also removes unpleasant odors.
Mix lemon juice, baking soda, and salt with tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties and neutralizes unpleasant odors. Pour lemon juice and a few drops of tea tree oil into a bowl of warm water. Let it sit for half an hour, then rinse.
