My daughter has forbidden me from seeing my grandchild.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. I was the village all by myself. For years, this courageous mother gave everything for her daughter Camille: her time, her energy, her dreams, sometimes putting them aside. So, when she learns that she’s being denied the right to see her grandson because of her status as a single mother, her world crumbles. Yet, this ordeal will reveal a truth stronger than any judgment.

Then Camille met  Thomas . Charming, self-assured, attached to traditions. Their marriage was quick. I sensed a distance growing between them, but I said nothing. I wanted to respect his new life.
When my grandson was born, the emotion was overwhelming. I could already picture myself cradling him, supporting my daughter as I always had.
But that phone call turned everything upside down.
To be reduced to a “bad role model” after all I had given… the wound was deep. Yet, I chose to maintain my dignity.

Transforming rejection into an act of love

Instead of letting anger consume me, I decided to channel the love I couldn’t give my grandson into something else.
I volunteer at a food bank. There, I met  Lina , 24, who is raising her little girl,  Nina , on her own . Tired, worried, but courageous.
When I brought her the knitted blanket and the things I had prepared, she burst into tears. As I cradled Nina while her mother finally ate a hot meal with both hands free, I felt something soothing.
