He was ten years old, with freckles across his nose and a habit of humming songs he invented himself.
The police searched everywhere.
I became the mother who never stopped hanging missing posters or searching for answers.
My husband Mike grieved in his own way.
“Megan, please,” he’d say. “Let our boy rest in peace.”
But I couldn’t.
Bill was still out there.
I knew it.
Last week, scrolling TikTok, I suddenly froze during a livestream.
The host — about 25, dark-haired, with an eerily familiar smile — was sketching a woman.
“She keeps appearing in my dreams,” he told viewers. “She calls my name and reaches for me. I don’t know who she is, but it feels real.”
Then he turned the drawing around.
It was ME.
Me at 28.
Exactly as I looked when Bill disappeared.
With shaking fingers, I typed my first live comment:
“That’s me. THAT WOMAN IS ME.”
The chat exploded.
His face turned white.
Seconds later, the stream ended.
“WAKE UP!” I yelled, shaking Mike awake. “WAKE UP RIGHT NOW!”
He thought I had lost my mind until I showed him the sketch.
“If this is Bill…” he whispered. “If this is really our son…”
“We have to find him.”
I wrote:
“Hi. You drew me tonight. I think we may know each other. Can we meet?”
I didn’t sleep until his answer came.
“Here’s the address.”
He lived more than 2,200 miles away.
We flew out the next morning.
The moment we arrived, I ran to the porch before Mike finished parking.
The door opened.
There he was.
The young man from the livestream.
He looked at me with the same brown eyes I had kissed goodnight a thousand times.
But before I could embrace him, I saw something behind him.
And that single detail left me completely p:aralyzed. ⬇️
