The girl breathed shortly before answering, “She’s coming back… please come quickly.”
Without losing a second, Claire sent a patrol to the address that appeared on her screen: 1427 Maplewood Drive, Springfield, Illinois. Agents Daniel Harris and Maria Lopez were the closest and came immediately. Upon arrival, the house seemed completely normal: a white fence, the well-kept lawn and a swing in the backyard. Nothing made an emergency think.
However, the atmosphere changed as soon as Maria knocked on the door. He opened a tall man, about forty, identified as Thomas Miller. He smiled, but his gaze was moving nervously between the two agents.
