Then I stood in the aisle wrestling my carry-on into the overhead bin while people behind me waited.
A flight attendant finally rescued me.
“First time up here?” she asked softly.
“Is it that obvious?”
“Only because you said thank you.”
She smiled and moved on.
“First time up here?”
I sat by the window in 3A.
Across the aisle, a woman in a tailored white blazer worked on a silver laptop. Her hair was pinned without a strand out of place. A designer handbag rested in the empty window seat beside her.
