“Then you weren’t protecting her. You were deciding for her, Grandpa.”
His face tightened.
“He had no future.”
“That was Mom’s decision, not yours.”
“She was 18.”
“Yes, but she was still my daughter.”
“He had no future.”
“And I’m still your granddaughter. Does that mean you get to choose for me too?”
His shoulders dropped.
Tessa glanced at me.
I nodded toward the hall.
“Give us a minute.”
She left and pulled the door almost closed.
Grandpa sat beside the box.
