Another driver slid through a red light on a wet road and hit us hard enough to flip the car.
When I woke up, I couldn’t feel my legs.

The doctor paused.
“Will I walk again?”
“There’s a chance, but recovery will take time and regular therapy.”
Grandpa leaned forward. “Then schedule whatever treatment my granddaughter needs, Doc.”
“We need to discuss the cost, sir.”
“We’ll find the money,” he said. “Just do everything you can for Maisie.”
