My Grandfather Came To See Me Two Years After Gifting Me A Multimillion-Dollar Mansion. Instead, He Discovered Me Living In A Shack.

“Just at the rental house I share with the other engineers,” he lied casually, shifting the camera angle.

For one brief moment, the camera revealed a glimpse of a dining table arranged with crystal wine glasses, an ivory-and-gold invitation card, and an open velvet jewelry box.

Inside that box rested the sapphire necklace that had belonged to Lucy’s deceased mother.

Julian had insisted it was lost during their move years earlier.

The video call ended suddenly.

The following morning, Lucy took Ethan and drove toward the address on the card. The residence was an enormous three-story estate featuring a sparkling pool, landscaped gardens, and uniformed staff. A huge floral sign beside the front gates read: Welcome to the Wedding Celebration of Julian & Serena.

Moments later, a white luxury SUV rolled slowly down the driveway. Julian sat in the back, looking flawless in a tailored dark suit.

Beside him sat an elegant blonde woman wearing the sapphire necklace around her neck.

In the front passenger seat sat Julian’s mother, Brenda, laughing while she held a glass of champagne.

The woman, Serena, lowered her window as the SUV slowed near the gate.

“Security, please escort that woman from the premises,” Serena instructed casually. “My wedding is today, and I won’t have vagrants hanging around outside.”

Julian’s eyes found Lucy’s through the glass.

He saw his wife. He saw his five-year-old son standing in worn shoes.

Still, he didn’t step out of the vehicle.

Instead, he held Serena’s hand, gave a quiet instruction to the driver, and allowed the tinted window to roll up—leaving Lucy standing outside the multi-million-dollar estate that had been financed by her own two years of suffering.

Lucy felt as though the earth had vanished beneath her feet, yet she refused to let a single tear fall.

Holding Ethan’s little hand firmly, she slipped through the side gates directly behind a catering supply van.

Across the lawn, more than sixty white chairs were positioned toward a flower-covered altar. Framed pictures of Julian and Serena vacationing together decorated the entrance pathway.

This wasn’t merely an engagement celebration. The wedding was happening that very afternoon.

Lucy strode directly across the lawn and entered the main residence, walking into an elegant parlor where Julian, Serena, and Brenda were reviewing paperwork with an expensive event planner. Scattered across the table were the estate’s original property deeds, financial statements, and a heavy folder bearing the Vance family trust emblem.
