Unforgivable Return –

“You think love is something you can buy back with an eighteen-year late payment,” Ava said into the microphone, ensuring every person in the building heard her reply. “You vanished when we were six hours old because we were inconvenient to your lifestyle. Now that we are adults, successful, and standing on this stage, you want to buy the right to take credit for the young women we’ve become. But you didn’t build us. Our father did.”

Emma stepped up beside her sister, taking the two expensive boxes from Vanessa’s trembling hands. The entire room held its breath, unsure of what would happen next. Without a single moment of hesitation, Emma walked over to the edge of the stage, near the podium where the school principal sat stunned, and placed the luxury boxes quietly on the floor. She did not throw them, nor did she make a scene of destruction; she simply laid them down as if returning unwanted trash to the place it belonged.
